Dental VeneersBreathe new life back into your appearance with the help of dental veneers.

Improving the look of your smile is easier than ever thanks to cosmetic dentistry. If imperfections are keeping you from the smile you want, dental veneers from our Newport Beach, CA, cosmetic dentists, Dr. Timothy Bui and Dr. Caden Lim, can help turn your smile around for the long term.

What are dental veneers?

These simple porcelain shells can make major changes to your appearance by altering the overall look of your smile. If you find yourself hiding your smile because of cracks, chips, discolorations, or crookedness, then veneers may be the solution you’ve been looking for.

These very thin porcelain shells are made to cover the entire front surface of each tooth. Each veneer is bonded to the front of a tooth with a special dental resin, which is hardened into place with a dental laser. Medical-grade porcelain is a great material from which to create your veneers, as they match the color, translucency, and overall look of real tooth enamel.

What issues can dental veneers address?

You may be an ideal candidate for dental veneers if you are dealing with,

  • Discolorations that don’t respond to teeth whitening
  • Chips and cracks
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Misshapen or worn down teeth
  • Slightly twisted or crooked teeth
  • Minor crowding

The addition of veneers can also help strengthen a tooth and make it more resilient. If you have a cosmetic flaw that affects the overall shape, size, color, or alignment of your smile, then dental veneers may be able to help.

What is the process of getting dental veneers like?

The dentists at our Newport Beach office will often be able to place your veneers in just two visits over the course of one to two weeks. The first part of getting veneers requires us to prep your teeth. Although the process of tooth preparation is very minimal, we will still need to shave down about ½ mm of enamel from the front of your teeth so the veneers can fit properly without looking bulky or unnatural.

Once the teeth are prepped we will also need to take molds of your teeth. This will help a dental lab to create your very own, custom-fitted veneers. It can take up to a week or more for your veneers to be made. Once they are complete, you will come back in so that we can check their appearance before bonding them permanently to your smile. With the proper care, veneers can last up to 10 years or more.

Teeth Whitening SmileWant That Glamorous Smile?

Dr. Timothy Bui offers teeth whitening in his Garden Grove and Newport Beach, CA, offices. Read below to learn of the three types of teeth whitening procedures provided by his practice!

At-Home Teeth Whitening

This form of whitening utilizes custom-made upper and lower trays made for you to take home. Dr. Bui will instruct you to place bleaching gels in these trays and to wear them after dinner for an hour. You should do this every evening for 2-3 weeks, depending on how much work your teeth need.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

For this method, Dr. Bui will begin by placing a device in your mouth that is designed to keep the cheeks and lips open, while also preventing soft tissue from coming in contact with soon to be applied bleaching gel. Your dentist will then administer the gel on your teeth and begin exposing them to ARC light to accelerate and amplify tooth whitening. While this is happening, relaxing music will be played to create a sense of comfort.

You may find his procedure better than the at-home teeth whitening kit because there is a lessened possibility of teeth sensitivity and gum discomfort. Additionally, the procedure is quicker and provides more immediate results.

Laser Teeth Whitening

During laser teeth whitening, Dr. Bui will isolate your teeth from the gums and lips using a specialized retractor. He'll then apply powder or liquid gel on the teeth and use a pulsating laser beam to whiten them. This process can be repeated 2-6 times.

Similar to the in-office method, this procedure is advantageous because there's a lessened possibility of teeth sensitivity and fast results.

Dental ImplantsAre the gaps in your smile causing your self-esteem to plummet or making chewing harder than it should be? If so, you could benefit from dental implants to replace your missing teeth. Restoring your smile has never been easier, but understanding how this procedure works and what to expect from it is crucial in ensuring that it is the best treatment for you. Find out more about dental implants with Dr. Timothy Bui and Dr. Caden Lim at locations in Newport Beach, CA, and Garden Grove, CA.

What is a dental implant?
Dental implants are a step apart from other tooth replacement options like dental bridges or dentures. Rather than only replacing a tooth and filling the gap in your smile, an implant replaces the tooth’s root as well, stimulating the bone under the gap the same way a natural tooth would and stopping bone atrophy in its tracks. The root replacement design also allows your new tooth to function exactly as your natural teeth.

Parts of a Dental Implant
The crown itself has three main components: the fixture, the abutment, and the prosthetic. The implant’s fixture is a screw-like post made of titanium which your dentist implants directly into the bone under your missing tooth. During the healing process, the bone grows around the fixture, anchoring it into place and ensuring that your replacement prosthetic tooth, held in place on the fixture by the abutment, has a solid foundation on which to sit for many years to come.

The Benefits of Dental Implants in Newport Beach, CA, and Garden Grove, CA
Dental implants’ most obvious benefit is the full, beautiful smile they provide. However, they also have other, unseen benefits that could potentially save your smile from serious dental complications. Implants stimulate the jawbone to prevent bone atrophy, a process where the bone breaks down and degrades due to lack of use. Additionally, implants do not require any extra steps in your daily oral care routine. Simply brush twice a day and floss your teeth as you would normally to keep implants clean and healthy.

VeneersHow veneers from your dentists in Garden Grove and Newport Beach, California can remake your smile

Your smile is your trademark, so what do you do if your smile becomes damaged? Over time, daily wear-and-tear can create small cracks, breaks, defects and other aesthetic problems with your teeth. The good news is you can hide the cosmetic issues and remake your smile, thanks to porcelain veneers!

Dr. Timothy Bui wants to introduce you to the benefits of porcelain veneers. He has two convenient office locations in Newport Beach, and Garden Grove, California to help your smile.

Porcelain veneers are thin laminates of high-grade dental porcelain that are placed on the front surfaces of your teeth, creating a beautiful, uniform tooth surface. When you choose porcelain veneers, you will experience amazing benefits, such as:

A naturally beautiful appearance, because porcelain is a light-reflective material that closely resembles tooth enamel, so your veneers will look completely natural

Long-lasting good looks, because porcelain resists stains from coffee, tobacco use, and other habits, so your veneers will always look beautiful

Conservation of tooth structure, because unlike other restorative treatments, with veneers only minimal tooth structure is removed

Versatility, because veneers can hide many cosmetic issues, including some that are usually treated with orthodontics, like tooth overlap or spaces between your teeth. Porcelain veneers are a great choice to cover up:

  • Chips or cracks caused by daily wear-and-tear
  • Erosion or worn-down teeth caused by bad habits or aging
  • Fractures or breaks caused by an injury or accident
  • Heavy stains or discolorations from genetics or medications

Learn more about dental fillings and why they are necessary.Tooth-Colored Fillings

A dental filling is one of the most common restorations you can get. If you find yourself facing a cavity then our Garden Grove, CA, dentist Dr. Timothy Bui will certainly recommend getting a dental filling. Of course, many people worry that others will notice a mouth that contains a dental filling. Luckily, this is why we are happy to offer composite resin fillings.

What are composite resin fillings?

If our Garden Grove, CA, general dentist discovered a cavity during your latest routine cleaning then we will want to treat the issue right away. Once the decay has been removed we will need to restore the tooth with a dental filling. While fillings can be made from metal, in most cases we will choose a tooth-colored material to fill the tooth. Composite dental fillings are great because they can be matched to the shade of your teeth and will blend right in, so no one will even know which tooth or teeth have fillings.

This same material can also be used for purely cosmetic purposes. Composite resin is used in a technique known as dental bonding, in which this resin is molded over small cracks, chips, gaps or stains on one or more teeth to improve the color, shape, evenness or length of a tooth.

How are they placed?

Once the tooth has been properly prepared we will apply the first layer of composite resin over the tooth. The resin is moldable so we can easily shape and contour it once it’s applied. Then the layer is hardened with a dental light. Once we have applied enough layers to completely fill the tooth, we will polish the resin to protect the material from staining and to match the sheen of the rest of the tooth.

Whether you have questions about getting dental fillings in Garden Grove, CA, or Newport Beach, CA, or you need to talk to us about the cosmetic dentistry services we offer, then call our office today to schedule your consultation.
